Got 'Em
The PGA Tour trolled the Colorado football program (?!) and knocked it out of the park
As a wise Twitter/X user once said, "Each day on twitter there is one main character. The goal is to never be it." The theory of course being that if you are the main character on Twitter/X on a given day, chances are you've done something horribly wrong/stupid and you are getting absolutely cooked over it from every direction possible.
This week, the Colorado football program, led by the eccentric Deion Sanders, has been the main character. Now, knowing how Sanders and his program operates, you'd think that would be cause for celebration. The Buffaloes are legitimately the No. 1 attention-seeking program in the country. They are the real-life version of that "here's that attention you ordered" meme.
But even Sanders and co. have to be a little bit embarrassed by what happened on Tuesday and has somehow bled over into Thursday. Three days of being the main character for this video of Sanders' son Shedeur, the starting quarterback, throwing a pass with the caption "Darts Only":
As some astute observers immediately pointed out, that Sanders pass was intended for no one. A ball headed directly to the turf. But at the six-second mark the video cuts to a receiver catching the ball in the end zone, indicated that the Colorado social media team deceptively edited the video to make a clearly incomplete pass look like a touchdown in fall camp. Breathtakingly stupid behavior when you know full well the internet already hates your program and will look for any reason to continue to hate.
Naturally, everyone has piled on, crafting their own hilarious versions of "Darts Only". From MLS teams:
To Tennessee Volunteers fans:
To other college football programs:
And beyond:
Our personal favorite, though, may have come from the PGA Tour, of all places. Tip of the cap to whoever put this one together:
The internet never fails. Nothing like everybody coming together to playfully pile on. All in good fun. And, let's be honest, the original clip has now surpassed over 13 million views. The Colorado football program is more than likely celebrating that. Social media numbies > wins and losses.
