Paige Spiranac gets her first win as a pro

June 01, 2016

Paige Spiranac has spent the past year known as an Instagram star. She's spent the past few months as Golf Digest's social media correspondent. But now, she has a new title: tour winner.

On Wednesday, Spiranac shot a final-round 68 at Orange Tree Golf Resort to win a Cactus Tour event, her first victory since turning professional after graduating from San Diego State last year.

Great hashtag, Paige. Although, you proved you can actually break 70. Under pressure. Well done.

Spiranac beat Hannah O'Sullivan, the top-ranked amateur in the world, on the first hole of a playoff. O'Sullivan, 18, became the youngest winner ever of a Symetra Tour event last year.

The 23-year-old Spiranac made her major pro tour debut at last year's Dubai Ladies Masters. Spiranac missed the cut and said she planned to take a "break from social media" after receiving criticism for playing on a sponsor's exemption.

But Spiranac has worked hard on her game since and it was all smiles on Wednesday. You go, Paige! Hey, we can root for one of our co-workers.
