With the men’s Olympic competition just a month away (July 29-August 1) and the women’s competition shortly after (August 4-7) at Kasumigaseki Country Club, adidas Golf has revealed the uniforms each team will wear in Tokyo. The women’s team includes Nelly and Jess Korda, Lexi Thompson, and Danielle Kang. On the men’s squad is Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, and Bryson DeChambeau. Here’s a look at what each team will wear during competition and the design inspiration behind each piece. The collection will be available to purchase July 1 at adidas.com.

Adidas worked with a Tokyo-based artist, Hiroko Takahashi, to develop scripting for both the men’s and women’s USA golf teams at the Olympics. Takahashi pulled inspiration from a Japanese saying from a preeminent warrior in which he aimed to inspire others to be “as fast as the wind, as quiet as the forest, as daring as fire, and immovable as the mountain.”

The uniform for each round will pull from one of these different elements, with round one inspired by wind, round two by forest, three by fire, and four by mountain. Each athlete will have the option to wear a long sleeve or short sleeve polo but both the men’s and women’s team will wear coordinating patterns each day for a stronger uniform look for USA Golf at the Games.

“Golf is a unique sport in a sense that it’s an individual sport, but you can also play it with a team,” Takahashi said. “With that in my mind, I designed the USA Golf uniforms with links of circles and lines, imagining the powers of individuals coming together as one and spreading into infinite possibilities.”

Day one, inspired by the element of wind, the athletes will wear a white golf shirt with a blue striped design cascading across the body. Both the men’s and women’s shirts have a ventilated back panel to add breathability and ultra-lightweight fabrics that are designed for comfort in the heat. The male golfers will have the option of blue or white pant and the female golfers will wear a navy skirt with bright red shorts that are designed to peek out the hem for a pop of color.

The second-round design features a subtle gray print of the stars and stripes in a circular design. There are three iterations of this uniform for the ladies, long-sleeved, sleeveless and short-sleeved—all with a mock neck collar. They’ll pair the top with navy woven shorts with the USA logo and red details on the side. The men will have two short-sleeved options with a mock neck and traditional collar to choose from.

During the third round, players will wear the boldest look of the tournament. The red tops were made to represent the element of fire both in the bright colorway and unique pattern across the front. The men will pair the collared Ultimate365 polo over white or navy pants, while the women will wear a full red outfit with a matching A-line skort. It’s an ultra-athletic look with clean lines and upscale sophisticated silhouettes for a powerful and stylish impact to energize the teams on moving day.

For the final round, the ladies will wear a mock collar golf dress in navy. The sleeveless design is lined with red at the arms and has a comfortable athletic fit. On the men’s side, the team will also be in navy with an athletic blade collar top and single red striping design.
