Nearly 30 amateurs in U.S. Women

__FARMINGDALE, N.Y.--__There's 15 amateur here in the field at Bethpage Black for the 109th U.S. Open, all either in college or just having finished up school. Still, that number paltry in comparison to the 29 amateurs (19 with college ties, nine still in high school and one mid-amateur) that have qualified for the U.S. Women's Open.

Here's the list of players competing at Saucon Valley CC in Bethlehem, Pa. FYI ... their average age is 18.5.
