Pine Lakes Country Club, famous as the site where Time Inc. executives convened in the late 1950s to hatch Sports Illustrated, is reopening this weekend after a two-year, $15 million renovation.

The club, which is open to the public, is considered Myrtle Beach's oldest. Built in 1927, it was a Robert White design.

Turf fans will be interested to know the renovation brought SeaDwarf Paspalum throughout. (That's the environmentally friendly grass you can irrigate with brackish water.)

The Myrtle Beach Sun News has the story here.
