Man Tasered and arrested at Stadium Course

    May 07, 2010

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The early candidates for the guy having the worst day at TPC Sawgrass Friday were Aaron Baddeley, who rinsed two balls into the water on 17 en route to a 79; or Matthew Goggin, who shot 80.

Turns out they were both surpassed by Travis Parmelee, of Jacksonville, a fan who was subdued with a Taser gun, and later arrested for disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence.

According to the Associated Press, Parmelee was yelling at players on the 11th hole. When marshals tried to calm Parmelee down, he grew more disorderly. Finally, when he resisted officers' attempts to take him into custody, Parmelee was Tasered.

"He was at the point where it was time for law enforcement to step in," said St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Capt. Dave Messenger. "Our goal is to escort people off the property, but it was clear he wasn't going to go with us."
