    Save for later

2026 has the chance to be a once-in-a-generation Masters. Rory McIlroy has a shot at defending his historic title. Tiger Woods might play despite his prolonged injury absence. But, more importantly (well, depending on who you ask), this could be the final year of the beloved Masters gnome.

The celebrated and now irrationally coveted gnome statue has become the golf collectible of all collectibles. It usually costs around $50 once you get through the gates, but it has become the hottest of commodities online. The original 2016 model might go for more than $10,000 on Golden Age Auctions!

Gnome hubbub might have gotten too insane for the green jackets, which is why the 2026 iteration might be the final one. If those rumors prove to be true, here's your first look at the last-ever Masters gnome!

This year’s gnome appears to come with a special add-on, a working umbrella, which would be perfect for rain and/or sprinklers if you’re ever bold enough to take it out of its original packaging. If you do make it to the promised land, you can only purchase one gnome per customer, and that seems more than fair. Let the gnomes see the world, à la the Travelocity gnome.

Many online have been calling this year's version the “best one yet.” And if that’s true, what a way to go out for Augusta National and its gnomes. An umbrella and a cup? What more could one want?

To be honest, we’re not entirely sure why the gnomes have become the "must-have" item in golf. And yet, this humble writer wouldn’t be upset if someone sent him one. Perhaps from a co-worker making the Georgia trek or a tour pro out there reading this here article. One fan put it perfectly: “Just more consumer crap no one needs. I’ll take one though.”
