This Marcus Smart hustle play puts all other hustle plays to shame

April 14, 2021

Marcus Smart is one of those "winning" players every good team needs. A real GLUE GUY. You know, a Gruden Grinder. OK, wrong sport, but you get the point. Smart's offensive statistics are never going to blow you away, but he's a First Team All NBA defender, and no one plays harder.

In fact, Smart was given the NBA Hustle Award in 2019 (apparently, that's a thing). And after what the Boston Celtics swingman did during last night's game against Portland, he should be a lock to win it again.

Check out this wild second quarter sequence in which Smart unsuccessfully dives to try to make a steal, but then gets up and winds up making a steal at the complete opposite end of the floor:

What an effort! High school basketball coaches around the country are going to be showing that to their teams. Heck, high school football coaches should make it required viewing.

Nice work, Marcus. And nice job by the announcers making the obligatory Pete Rose reference. Charlie Hustle himself would be proud.
