Marco Penge signs multi-year equipment deal with PXG
January remains the month when equipment stories dominate the headlines, as manufacturers announce forthcoming products and tour players reveal new deals while dialing in gear for the season ahead.
The latter takes center stage this week as pros return to competition at the PGA Tour’s Sony Open and the DP World Tour’s Dubai Invitational. One notable absence is Englishman Marco Penge, who earned playing rights on both tours this season after finishing second to Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai rankings. Penge has been sidelined while recovering from a viral illness he picked up in November, but when he does return, it will be with new equipment in the bag after agreeing to a multi-year deal with PXG.
Penge will play PXG clubs while also sporting the company’s logo on his hat and staff bag, marking a significant shift for one of the game’s most powerful ball-strikers.
From PXG’s perspective, the signing is a calculated one. Penge is coming off a breakout season in which his elite ball speed and top-tier driving distance translated into sustained contention, not just highlight-reel power. At 27, he also represents a player entering his competitive prime—established enough to validate equipment performance, but still ascending.
Widely regarded as possessing one of the “best swings in golf,” Penge moves away from a Mizuno-heavy setup that included an ST-X 230 driver, Pro Fli-Hi 2-iron and S-3 irons, along with a TaylorMade BRNR Copper mini driver, Titleist Vokey wedges, Scotty Cameron Phantom putter and Titleist Pro V1 ball.
His new setup will feature PXG’s Lightning Tour Mid driver, Secret Weapon mini driver and a blended iron set comprised of 0311 Gen8 (4-iron) and 0317 ST (5-PW).
“From the first conversation, it was clear PXG is obsessed with performance,” Penge said in a release. “The fitting process, the people, the technology—it’s all built to help players compete at the highest level. I’m excited to work closely with the team and put PXG equipment in play every week.”
Penge joins a PGA Tour staff that includes Jake Knapp, Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Eric Cole, among others.
“Marco is driven, talented, and unapologetically competitive — exactly the kind of player we want representing PXG,” said Bob Parsons, Founder and CEO of PXG. “He’s committed to getting better every day, and we’re proud to support him with equipment built to perform at the highest level.”
