Ludvig Aberg is closing in on winning this impressive bet with his caddie

Ludvig Aberg's final Masters tune-up this week at the Valero Texas Open is a chance to work on his game before heading to Augusta National. He'll also have a chance to win a months-long bet with his caddie.
In February, the Swedish star revealed he has an ongoing wager with caddie Joe Skovron. If Aberg holes out seven shots from off the green by the RBC Heritage later this month, he pockets some extra cash. If not, he pays out.
Aberg was asked for an update on the bet on Wednesday at San Antonio. Here's how the brief exchange went.
Q. I think you have a hole-out bet with Joe; is that right?
LUDVIG ABERG: Yeah.
Q. At this point where do you stand with that bet?
LUDVIG ABERG: I had a strong three-week stretch.
Indeed, he did. Although, Aberg actually did most of the damage at the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, where he claimed a second PGA Tour title. That week, Aberg holed out three times from off the green. Not too shabby. And even during a missed cut at the Players, Aberg added another one to bring his season total to six in only six starts.
Such a bet isn't new. In recent years, Scottie Scheffler and Ted Scott have made similar wagers, although it's been Scheffler who has had to pay out when reaching the total. Which, frankly, seems unfair.
Anyway, if we were to bet on this bet, we'd back Ludvig. And we'd wager that it's going to happen this week. Sorry, Joe.
