A T-14 at the Masters certainly wasn't Jon Rahm's best effort at Augusta National given that he slipped on the green jacket in 2023. But a Sunday 69 to move up the leaderboard may have indicated the Spaniard might be rounding back into top form. And a couple days later, one of his fellow LIV golfers and countrymen found out the hard way that's the case.
David Puig shared Tuesday on Instagram that he shot a 65 at vaunted Whisper Rock. Not too shabby, right? Well, he got absolutely routed by Rahmbo.
Puig explained that he lost 6 & 5(!) to the two-time major champ. How is that possible? Well, because Rahm fired a 59. Here's a look at his beautiful scorecard:
Only a par on the closing par 5, Jon? Weak . . . Kidding! Eleven birdies, an eagle and no bogeys is incredible. And that's a particularly insane score at a popular PGA Tour spot known to be a very tough track.
Speaking of tough, that's about as tough of a beat as you'll see for Puig. Hopefully, it didn't cost him too much.
