Korn Ferry Tour pro plays Phil Mickelson-esque shot from grandstands, becomes instant folk hero in Boise

August 20, 2021

They sure do love their blue turf in Boise. We know that, of course, from the Boise State football team's blinding field, but the grandstands at the Albertsons Boise Open have a familiar look. And one player got to see it up close on Thursday.

Harry Hall hit his second shot on the par-5 16th hole into those grandstands during the opening round of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. And instead of taking relief, he played his ball as it lied, much to the delight of the crowd.

Have a look—from a couple different angles—as Hall pulls off this daring pitch shot that would make Phil Mickelson proud:

Quick, someone spray paint Phil "Hall was here." That is wild. Also, Bryson DeChambeau would be proud of that Hogan cap.

Unfortunately, Harry, whot shot an even-par 72, wasn't able to pull off the miracle birdie, but things could have turned out a lot worse than making par from there. With his wedge that open, popping one off the tent—or, yes, a spectator—was definitely a possibility.

Instead, Hall hit a shot that anyone who witnessed it won't soon forget. Hopefully, he'll never have to buy a beer in Idaho again.
