Anyone who bet on Jon Rahm at Memorial will be able to cash a winning ticket, says one sportsbook

With Jon Rahm leading by six shots at the Memorial Tournament after a third-round 64, anybody who bet on the pre-tournament favorite was likely counting his or her money early until some unfortunate news was delivered late Saturday.

Rahm was forced to withdraw after the PGA Tour informed him of a positive COVID-19 test. That was heartbreaking for Rahm, looking for his first PGA Tour win since August. On a lesser scale it was also tough for gamblers who backed Rahm and suddenly were looking at a losing ticket.

One sportsbook has made a lot of people’s days, however. William Hill Sportsbook announced on Sunday morning that anybody with an outright bet on Rahm to win the Memorial will be able to cash their ticket as a winner at the full amount. Rahm was a 10-1 favorite before the tournament started.

That's quite a reversal of fortunes for Rahm bettors. We applaud William Hill for paying out those gamblers who were banking on the Spaniard with the enormous six-shot lead.
