Running into Joe Pesci on a golf course must be terrifying. Renowned for his intimidating mobsters and fierce crooks, coming face to face with the movie icon would be both legendary experience and a harbinger of doom.

Partially retired (until the right project comes along), Pesci is a golf obsessive, even reportedly demanding time changes to play golf while filming “Home Alone.” And now we have this amazing anecdote from Charlie Day of “It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia” running into Pesci out on the course.

@skratch Nothing like a little pressure from Joe Pesci. 😂 Avtor and certified golf sicko Charlie Day joins this week’s episode of the Vanity Index Podcast with @Chad Mumm and @wellsadams. “On the first tee, I was playing by myself. Joe Pesci walks up behind me,” Day recalled while on the “Vanity Index” podcast. “Smoking a cigarette, he’s got a leather coat on and a fedora. And he goes, ‘You mind if people watch you tee off?’ I’m like, nah. I don’t mind.

“I’m like f*ck. Don’t f*ck this up. I drill one right down the middle, just bomb it right down the middle. Takes a cigarette puff. Stamps it out, looks at me, he goes, ‘I see why you don’t mind.’”

Although a man of few words, Pesci always has the right ones. For example, his famed Oscars speech, where he took his time getting to the podium, said, “It's my privilege, thank you,” and then walked away.

It’s also not going to get any better than looking behind you and seeing Pesci with a leather coat and fedora on and a dart in his mouth. That’s gotta be surreal.

The real winner of this story is Charlie Day, who somehow kept his cool and hit the most high-pressure shot of his life. He lived to tell the tale and now gets to say that he impressed Tommy DeVito.
