J.J. Spaun's incredible U.S. Open winning putt was an all-time golf instant classic, even if people can't seem to agree on whether it was from 64 or 65 feet (We'll go with 65 because it sounds better). But the ensuing celebration by Spaun and his caddie was just as good.

Spaun provided fist pumps and a putter toss before picking up looper Mark Carens. It was an amazing scene. And even more amazing might be the fact that Carens doesn't remember that last part.

It seems the caddie blacked out after the putt went in, sending Spaun and the gallery into a frenzy. And Carens hopped on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio on Tuesday to talk about the chaotic scene.

“All I remember was the roar, I’ve never heard a louder roar than that,” Carens says. “And then I don’t know what happened. I don’t remember him picking me up. I was like, ‘Really? You picked me up? I didn’t even think you could lift me.’”

Well, J.J. must have been hitting the gym lately, because he definitely picked Carens up. Or, it could have just been the crazy rush of adrenaline rushing through his body in the moment.

Anyway, after rewatching the highlight, Carens had another hilarious question. For himself.

“Why am I holding the umbrella?” Carens continues. “He threw the putter, why am I still holding the umbrella? Why am I, like, prancing around with this umbrella?”

It's a great question. But we'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was still locked in and stuck in keep-my-player-dry mode. Have a listen to his funny telling of the situation:

And speaking of throwing things, Carens added that fans had to tell him where Spaun had chucked that putter. And that he eventually retrieved it from a bunker. Good thing, because that flatstick is a keeper. And so is Carens as a looper.
