As a two-time heart-transplant recipient, Erik Compton goes out of his way to help spread awareness for organ donations on a regular basis. But this weekend in Ohio, he didn't have to go out of his way. An amazing encounter with a waitress at an Akron restaurant is the latest dramatic element to his story.
Jim Nantz told the story during the final round of the Memorial Tournament of how Compton's server turned out to be an aunt of the young man whose heart he currently has. Here's the clip from the broadcast.
"You can imagine what a tearful scene that was," Nantz said of the improbable encounter. Amazing.
