LA QUINTA, Calif. -- A week ago today, Jay Haas was practicing here with his son Bill and their instructor, Billy Harmon. Jay then went to Hawaii to play in the Mitsubishi Electric Chamionship, where he tied for 17th.
Bill Haas, meanwhile, finished play in the Bob Hope Classic on Sunday one stroke off the lead. Dad flew to Los Angeles on Monday morning, then drove down to La Quinta to watch his son in pursuit of his first PGA Tour victory and was in the gallery early on the back nine at the Palmer Private Course at PGA West.
Haas was one shot off the lead held by Matt Kuchar.
