Scott Hoch again was reminded of the 18-inch birdie putt he missed in a playoff to win the Masters 20 years ago, instead losing to Nick Faldo. Here is his response, from today's St. Petersburg Times:
"I only think about it when (expletive) like you bring it up."
He was joking. The Times reports that he was laughing when he said it. Indeed, he was willing to talk about his best chance at winning a major.
"That might have made my career better and longer from that point on," he said at TPC Tampa Bay, where he was preparing for the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. I don't really dwell on it that much. It was tough the next week. I didn't sleep very well. Within a year it was all okay.''
