Here's who we're betting on at the 2014 PGA Championship
It's the fourth and final major of the 2014 season, and like true degenerates, our fantasy draft just wasn't enough for Golf Digest editors Luke Kerr-Dineen and Alex Myers. They scoured the odds on Bovada searching for some of the best prospects. Here's who they came up with:
ALEX MYERS
Henrik Stenson (25/1): He let me down at the British Open, but I really think a major breakthrough is just a matter of time and I don't want to miss out.
Jimmy Walker (50/1): If not for a bad final round at the British Open, the FedEx Cup points leader would have finished in the top 10 at the year's first three majors and the Players.
Patrick Reed (80/1): Cue the "top five" jokes, but he's coming off a T-4 at Firestone and he is one of only two players with three PGA Tour titles in the past 12 months.
Jonas Blixt (200/1): He hasn't had a great 2014, but how are the odds this high for a guy who was runner-up at this year's Masters and was fourth at last year's PGA? Serious question.
LUKE KERR-DINEEN
You'll have to forgive me. Alex has made a bunch of smart and sensible bets, but I'm going a different route because I can't see much value in the individual betting market.
Gary Woodland (100/1): That said, I think Woodland could have a good run this week. T-19 at Firestone, and it's a big price for someone who drives the ball as well as he does.
Darren Clarke, Top 5 Finish, (66/1): He is a huge price to win (300/1), but let's be real: Darren Clarke isn't going to win. But could he sneak a top five? Sure. He did shoot 67 at Royal Liverpool, after all.
Kenny Perry, Top 5 Finish (40/1): The Kentucky native lost in a playoff at Valhalla in 1996, finished T-28 at this year's U.S. Open, and he's fresh off a win on the Champions Tour last week. Another guy who could sneak into the top five at a big price.
Victor Dubuisson, Top Continental European Player (11/1): Admittedly, I'm on a bit of a Dubuisson kick right now, but I do think he has all the tools to be a top player. His T-39 at the Bridgestone last week wasn't very impressive, but his T-9 at Royal Liverpool was.
