From Golf Channel, ready or not, 'Feherty'

    May 09, 2011

David Feherty's wit has begged for a bigger stage than that provided by weekend golf telecasts on which he provides yardages and read putts for CBS. He has one now. Ready or not, here comes "Feherty," the television show.

Golf Channel announced on Monday that it has given Feherty, often called the funniest man in golf, a prime-time series in which he will interview personalties in or out of golf as well as providing stories and anecdotes from, as Golf Channel calls it, "the brilliant yet zany mind of David Feherty."

Anything goes, Golf Channel said in a news release, though presumably it retains the right to renege. Feherty, recall, had to apologize for a macabre joke in a story he wrote for D magazine on George W. Bush moving to Dallas when his second term as president ended. Still, Feherty and anything goes is a pairing with promise.

A 12-part series of 30-minute shows, "Feherty" will debut on June 20. The episodes will be shot in studio and on location.

"This show is something I've always wanted to do," Feherty said in a news release.

Consider this, then, his own big break.
