FootJoy Classics: More than a shoe to him

    April 26, 2009

For Bill Tarlow, former owner of FootJoy, its Classics shoe was a way of life. Tarlow, 83, owned the company for 18 years and remained on its payroll through last year, and recently gave Boston Globe columnist Sam Allis a tour of its shuttered facility in Brockton, Mass., where it had made the FootJoy Classics that once ruled professional golf.

"There was a lot of romance here," Tarlow says in Allis' column, headlined, "Requiem for a heavyweight."
