Florida's Camp Creek Opens to Public

March 03, 2009

Two days ago we posted a story about a shuttered private club in suburban Chicago, Ravisloe CC, that had been purchased by a private investor and will reopen April 1 as a public facility.

Today comes news of a similar situation in Florida: Camp Creek GC, a Tom Fazio-designed course in Panama City Beach, Fla., about 40 miles from the Fort Walton Beach Airport, began allowing limited outside play this week as it begins the transition from being a private club to a semi-private one.

Camp Creek will charge a $145 green fee, which includes cart, locker room access and use of the practice range. Camp Creek will continue to offer membership opportunities as well as special rates and benefits to property owners and guests of the nearby Watercolor Inn & Resort.

Camp Creek opened in 2001, and has received its share of accolades over the years, including a 30th place ranking on Golf Digest's list of the best courses in Florida. The facility has a great website here.
