Final-round Zurich Classic television coverage hit by massive power outage

Final-round television coverage of the Zurich Classic has been plagued with power outage issues, according to the PGA Tour.

Issues on-site at TPC Louisiana have made it impossible to watch a large portion of the final round Sunday in the Big Easy. Golf Channel was scheduled to show coverage until 3 p.m. ET but moved to PGA Tour Champions coverage 30 minutes earlier. When coverage of the Zurich Classic moved to CBS at 3 p.m., coverage of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry’s march to victory in 2024 was being aired with a ticker across the bottom of the screen noting technical difficulties.

At 3:42 p.m. ET the horn blew and play was suspended because of inclement weather. Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin hold a three-shot lead over Jake Knapp and Frankie Capan III. McIlroy and Lowry are tied for sixth place, five shots off the lead. When play resumed at 5:15 p.m. ET, CBS was back with live coverage and no mention of any of the difficulties from earlier.

Golf Digest sent CBS an email asking for an explanation but it was not returned.
