Dwyane Wade sh*t-talking his son during a game of 1-on-1 is good clean family fun

    December 28, 2020

When certain athletes hang it up, they Hang. It. Up. Think Derek Jeter, who often claims he hasn't picked up a bat since he called it quits. Others can never turn off the competitive switch, even in retirement. Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade apparently falls in the second bucket.

It helps that Wade's son, Zaire, is a D-1 prospect. Not only does he pass on his 17 years of NBA wisdom, he and Zaire work out together and run together. On Sunday, Wade posted a video of he and Zaire playing 1 on 1, and let's just say it's a little more intense than your run-of-the-mill pickup game:

At first, this looked like a scene straight out of "He Got Game," but ultimately it turns into very healthy dad vs. son competition. Zaire isn't going to be a starter at a power-5 school by allowing his dad to go easy on him. Playing 1-on-1 (and most likely losing a lot before winning) with a 13-time NBA All-Star is only going to make him better.

By the way, you've got to love Zaire saying "wow, you win off of post-ups, congratulations" in the saltiest way possible. "Play me all jumpers," is such a wild request, not to mention he'd probably beat him anyway doing that given the whole 13-time All-Star thing. Let's hope Dwyane posts more 1-on-1s with Zaire, because it's content gold.
