Save for later

One of the biggest downsides of Dustin Johnson's 2022 move to LIV Golf is that PGA Tour fans no longer get a weekly DJ-ism to expand their minds and open their hearts. The two-time major champion was once a veritable South Carolina Confucious, delivering memorable lines such as “um,” “huh” and “not really,” but has faded into obscurity on the Saudi-backed circuit.

This weekend in Hong Kong, Johnson dialed back the clock after his 4Aces squad took home their first team win since 2023. After the victory, Johnson was asked to name his teammates on that fateful afternoon at the Centurion Club three years ago. He thought long and hard before dusting off this instant-classic for old time’s sake. Check it out.

He's still got it, folks.

“P-Reed was one of ‘em," Johnson replied, wracking the depths of his brain. "... Sorry to see him go.” Pushed to name the other two, Johnson eventually had to admit to defeat. “Yeah, I have no idea,” he said, grinning his signature grin.

In DJ’s defense, two of his teammates that day in London—Patrick Reed and Pat Perez—are no longer affiliated with LIV Golf and even share the same first name. Tricky stuff. The third, Peter Uihlein, now wears Range Goats pink and even bears a passing resemblance to Reed, so we get why that might also be confusing.

Don’t mistake DJ’s foggy memory for being a bad teammate, however. According to new 4Aces player and recent LIV Adelaide winner, Anthony Kim, Johnson has promised to buy the Aces their own private team jet. We don't know Kim and co. feel about DJ's "name blindness," but if we were a 4Aces player, he could call us Winnie the Pooh and we couldn't care as long as we didn't have to fly commercial anymore.
