PGA Tour: Dufner retains lead, Mickelson six back

Jason Dufner continued his hot play in the third round at the CareerBuilder Challenge, shooting an 8-under par 64 at La Quinta Country Club.

The 2013 PGA Championship winner is at 23-under par and leads by two strokes.

"I feel good. I'm confident. I feel like I'm playing some really good golf and not too concerned about outcomes or results right now. I'm just focused on what I can do to play each shot the best I can," Dufner said.

Phil Mickelson, playing the Stadium Course at PGA West, shot a 6-under-par to bring his 54-hole score to 17-under. He is tied for fifth place, six off the lead.

Jamie Lovemark shot a 7-under par 65 on the Stadium Course and is in second place. Canadian Adam Hadwin shot an 8-under par 64 on the Nicklaus Tournament Course to move into third place, three strokes back of Dufner.

David Lingmerth and Kevin Na recorded the best scores of the day, each shooting 10-under par 62s at the Nicklaus Tournament Course. Lingmerth and Na moved into fourth and fifth place, respectively. Na had six birdies and an eagle in a seven-hole stretch.

The cut line was nine-under-par, and eliminated Luke Donald, Zach Johnson and Billy Horschel.
