Colonial: Spieth leads by one after round 3

May 28, 2016

Jordan Spieth continues to vie for his first win since January at the Dean & Deluca Invitational, shooting a five-under 65 in the third round at Colonial Country Club on Saturday. At 12 under, he leads Webb Simpson and Ryan Palmer by a stroke.

"Last week and this week, I can't thank the DFW area and I guess my fans enough for coming out and supporting here and making me really feel like I'm home, like I know I am," said Spieth. "But it is nice coming to a track like Colonial Country Club here, a course that everyone really seems to love. I love it, and to have the fans on my side, as well, makes it a really special week."

Simpson, looking for his first PGA Tour win since 2013, shot a three-under 67 on Saturday. He is tied for second place with Ryan Palmer at 11 under and one shot off the lead.

Harris English, Kyle Reifers and Martin Piller are tied for fourth at 10 under and two shots off the lead.

Jason Dufner, winner of the CareerBuilder Challenge back in January, sits in sixth place at nine under and three shots back of Spieth.

Matt Kuchar had the best score of the round, firing a seven-under 63 that included a six-under 29 on the front nine. He sits tied at seven under with Patrick Reed, Anirban Lahiri and Bryce Molder, five shots off the lead.
