WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Cleveland took the best features of its RTX ZipCore wedges and Full-Face wedge designs and combined them into a singular model—the RTX Full-Face—with grooves that extend all the way across the face.

PRICE/OPTIONS: Available at retail on June 11, the RTX Full-Face wedges will be produced in a satin or raw finish with lofts ranging from 50 to 60 degrees in two-degree increments, along with a 64-degree option in satin while the Tour Rack raw finish is available in 56, 58, 60 and 64 degrees. Price is $160 per club in satin and $180 per club for the Tour Rack models.

THE DEEP DIVE: Club designers often learn from their previous designs and implement their findings in the next iteration. In the case of the Cleveland Golf’s new RTX Full-Face wedge line, it was more like taking the best of two distinct wedges and combining them into one.

Borrowing from its RTX ZipCore line of wedges, the RTX Full-Face carries over the idea of better matching the center of gravity with the center of the face. Helping achieve this is the removal of weight by using a low-density material inside the lower hosel, neck and sole area, which also helps raise the moment of inertia in the high-low direction for more stability on shots struck in those areas while helping promote more consistent distance, spin and feel on center strikes.

Although the guts of the club are invisible to the eye, there is no missing the fact that the sharp, deep “UltiZip”grooves that stretch across the entire face are being used—a first for an RTX model wedge. The longer grooves cover the entire face while a high toe profile promotes better contact on open-face shots.

"The new RTX Full-Face maintains the traditional and striking clean look that golfers have come to expect from a Cleveland wedge, all while adding shotmaking creativity with grooves across the entire face,” said Ryan Polanco, GM of Cleveland Golf. “It’s the perfect complement to the classic RTX ZipCore and delivers exceptional versatility around the greens.”

Similar to RTX ZipCore, the RTX Full-Face utilizes a new heat-treatment process to boost durability and preserve the lifespan of the grooves to maintain spin performance for a longer period of time.

The company also is expanding its Tour Rack program to add the RTX Full-Face, allowing consumers to select from the standard Full-Face grind or add more versatility with a custom relief edge grind along with the leading edge that fits their game best.
