Billy Hurley III, who shot 67 in the first round of the Sony Open in Hawaii on Thursday, enjoyed a homecoming of sorts the day before when the Naval Academy graduate went to Pearl Harbor and visited the ship on which he served, the destroyer Chung-Hoon, from 2007-2009, the Navy Times reported today.

"The ship looks great," Hurley said in a Defense Department news release. "The crew's doing great stuff, everyone's doing well, morale seems high, and it's really cool to come back."

Hurley, 31, served a tour of duty to the Persian Golf aboard the Chung-Hoon, which is based in Hawaii.

Hurley, who last played the PGA Tour in 2012, ranks 65th on the PGA Tour money list with $162,684 early in the 2014 season.
