Ben Griffin re-signs with Maxfli—and has a new ball in play this week

Ben Griffin had a career year in 2025. Three wins, a Ryder Cup berth and residency inside the top 10 of the world ranking. During that time he gained some attention for his use of a Maxfli golf ball—a house brand for Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy. As he embarks on a 2026 encore, he does so with a new three-year deal with Maxfli and a new ball, the Maxfli Tour X-LS, that he’s putting into play at this week’s WM Phoenix Open.
“At the end of this contract with them, I knew I wanted to do something longer and longer term,” Griffin told Golf Digest. “Signing for the next three years with them is amazing. I believe in the product a lot and I believe in their story a lot. It allows me flexibility with my equipment as well.”
As for the Tour X-LS ball, Griffin has his reasons for messing with success. “This ball is perfect for my game,” he said. It launches a little bit lower than the Tour X. it's not much, but it's just a little bit. If anything, it’s maybe a touch faster, and then a little bit lower spin. That's going to help me not only in windier conditions, but also with some of my higher launching clubs that, for me, I hit too high. It’s also a little bit softer, which I kind of like as well from a sound perspective.”
Two years ago, when Griffin switched to Maxfli, fellow tour pros questioned the move. Now the questions have changed to curiosity. “At first a lot of guys were like, ‘Are you serious? Are you really going to risk your career?’ Now I think guys are starting to realize, wow, maybe this product is a lot better than I expected. It was a risk. If I played bad that season, I was going to go back to the Korn Ferry Tour. But I truly believed in the product and now I get questions about what the ball does instead of questioning the decision.”
As part of Griffin’s new deal, he is the face of an ad campaign for Maxfli called “Say Less.” Which while new territory for Griffin, stays true to who he is. “The point of the ad is let your game do the talking and say less. It kind of sums up my career so far. I didn't expect any of this to happen,”
Perhaps so, but Griffin continues to exceed expectations.
