Americans in front at LPGA Championship

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Forget about the Asian invasion: at this moment, the LPGA Championship is a battle between three Americans. Cristie Kerr had an early tee time Friday and has played solid golf, scoring one birdie on each nine so far as she plays the par-4 13th and holds the top spot on the leaderboard at -6.

*Meanwhile, Kerr's overnight co-leader Stacy Lewis has started her second right very hot, making birdies on the first two holes to stay in step with Kerr. And long-hitting Floridian Brittany Lincicome is having a spectacular day as well, scoring seven birdies and three birdies in 15 holes. She sits one stroke back at -5.

The weather has improved a lot since Thursday, when strong winds and periods of heavy rain made play very difficult. Friday is calmer and sunny, with pleasant temperatures in the mid-70s. In other words, perfect scoring conditions.
