A U.S. Open on the wrong coast

June 18, 2009

So what's the weather like at West Coast U.S. Open venues?

In Pebble Beach, Calif., site of the 2010 Open, it's 69 and sunny today, and the forecast ranges from 63 to 67 degrees and partly-cloudy (with zero percent chance of precipitation) each day through Monday.

In La Jolla, Calif., site of the 2008 Open, it's 72 and sunny today, and the forecast for the next four days is 68 through 71 degrees and partly-cloudy (which means a morning marine layer followed by afternoon sunshine).

As Geoff Shackelford of Santa Monica, Calif., noted in a Twitter post, the Open should only be played in California.
