A Monterey country club is bankrupt

Golf absorbed another body blow when Pasadera Country Club in Monterey, Calif., filed for bankruptcy protection, citing annual losses recently of $1 million.

Pasadera features a Jack Nicklaus Signature course that opened in 2000.

Golf failing in this part of the country is a telltale sign of an ailing industry in a tough economy.
