With the PGA done, the focus turns to the U.S. Open next month at Shinnecock.
And the competition to get there got real on Monday with the 36-hole final qualifying tournaments starting—one in England and another in Dallas. The Walton Heath event is complete, and Englishman Nathan Kimsey—ranked 241st the world—medaled by topping his opening 68 with a 62(!). The top 7 players qualified, and Frenchman Ugo Coussaud earned the final spot in a four-man playoff that included LIV Golf’s Thomas Detry. None of the qualifiers rank inside the top 200 in the OWGR. Dallas is ongoing, with Tom Kim, Kevin Streelman and Graeme McDowell battling near the top for the nine spots available.
