We've all heard the phrase "practice with a purpose." But do we actually do it oursevles?

I'll answer my own question: no. Just last week, I actually did go to the practice range, something I rarely do. The only time you'll find me at a range is to warm up before a round. But I am making a legitimate effort to get better this year, so I mixed in a range session. Thinking back on it, I mindlessly hit about 50-to-60 balls, then went and mindlessly chipped for 10 minutes, then rolled a few putts and went home. I wasn't planning on just going through the motions, but that's exactly what happened.

It wasn't until I came across the video below of the UTSA Men's college golf team practicing that I realized what a waste of time my little "range session" was last week:

Do I, or any of us with kids, a job, other interests, etc., have two hours to spare to grind away like this? No, but I certainly have time to just pick one of these "completion drills," like the 60-80 yard wedge shots drill, which has been a huge black eye on my game recently. Going through my last two rounds, I think I made bogey or worse with a wedge in my hand at least five times. Perhaps some intentional practice from that distance could serve me well.
