It’s well known that veteran caddie Paul Tesori is no slouch when he’s carrying a pencil and scorecard for himself.
He played college golf at Florida and earned a PGA Tour card in 1996 before injury ended his own tour pro dreams. He’s gone on to success looping for Vijay Singh, Webb Simpson, Cameron Young and Tom Kim, not to mention helping our own Shane Ryan with his average golfer game. But last week, he showed he’s still got game by winning the Florida Senior Open at Mayacoo Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach. A final-round 70 gave him an eight-under 205 for a one-shot victory. "This was so cool," he said. "And I played so bad in a practice round, I thought about withdrawing." Tesori is the first amateur to win the event since 2016.
