Tony Finau has played in 33 consecutive major championships.

He has not qualified for the Masters next week. The only way for him to get into that field is to win the Valero Texas Open, where he shot an opening six-under 66 and was tied for the lead when he finished, with only a few others left to complete their respective rounds in the morning wave.

Finau's streak started at the 2017 British Open where he tied for 27th place. He has collected 10 top-10 finishes with his best coming at the 2019 British Open (third) and the 2024 U.S. Open (T-3). At Royal Portrush he was well behind Shane Lowry. At Pinehurst, however, he finished only two shots behind Bryson DeChambeau.
