Sam Burns is the Masters clubhouse leader after just polishing off a five-under 67.
He did what most champions here do—tore up the par 5s, shooting five under on them. Burns made an eagle at No. 2 with a fantastic approach to five feet and followed with birdies on 8, 13 and 15. His only birdie beyond a par 5 came at the par-3 12th, where he rolled in a 20-footer. Par-5 success has worked nicely for Burns’ buddy, Scottie Scheffler, in his two green jacket wins. The World No. 1 was eight under on the par 5s in 2022 (with a 10-under finish) and minus-nine in ’24 (11 under overall).
