Rory McIlroy's title defense couldn't have started much better.
Only six times in Masters history has a defending champion held a share of the lead in their defense (the last was Jordan Spieth in 2016). Rory McIlroy has a good chance to do so after carding a five-under 67 on Thursday, highlighted by a three-birdie stretch from 13-15. Plenty of players can tie or surpass that lead, but regardless it was a dream start—it's Rory's second-best opening round at Augusta since that infamous 2011 here.
