As a golf gambler, there is no bigger nightmare fuel than thinking about the bets you didn't make, even if the ones you did make look OK on Thursday and Friday. For many this week, that bet is probably Hideki Matsuyama, who was triple-digit odds to win outright before the PGA Championship began. I remember seeing that on Wednesday and thinking "huh, that's a really disrespectful." Did i act on that thought? No! Look, Matsuyama might not win, but he is currently two under, one off the lead, and playing great. How on earth was this former Masters champ and 11-time PGA Tour winner 100-1? He had one bad start leading in at the Truist, but prior to that, this was his record for 2026:
That's, uhh, pretty damn good. Good enough, with his career history, to be priced in that 20-1 to 40-1 range where he usually lives. 100-1 was insane value, and I'll never live it down if I miss out on it.
