Faders face a dilemma at Augusta National.
Off the tee on many holes that bend to the left (notably Nos. 2, 5, 9, 10 and 13), do you try to force your fade into the tight corridor, or do you fall back to a fairway wood, which are easier to draw. Lots of players drop back to fairway wood, but as our MythBusters robot test showed, a draw with a 3-wood goes significantly shorter than a fade with a driver … often more than 20 yards shorter. Those who fit their fade into the hole stand to hit one or two clubs shorter into the green.
