Curious to know a little more about the participants in this year’s Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals?
Well, we scanned through all 80 bios and crunched a few numbers. Each junior was asked their strongest DCP skills. Here’s what they said:
• Driving: 37.5 percent (30 total; boys: 15, girls: 15)
• Chipping: 33.75 percent (27 total; boys: 15; girls: 12)
• Putting: 27.5 percent (22 total; boys: 10; girls: 12)
Each also was asked how old they were when they first started playing golf. The average age? 5.02 years old. For the boys, it was even younger: 4.32 years old. The oldest? Peyton Landon, now 15, only started playing at age 12. The youngest? Dawson Dial, now 12, says he started at 9 months.
