One of the best public courses in the state shines during the fall when the colors are off the charts. The back nine is routed through the highest points of the property, revealing some incredible vistas. Some shorter par 4s and five par 3s, along with some longer holes and approaches to elevated greens, give Green Mountain National a strong layout variety.

Review

“Distance control and ball flight/shot shaping critical at a much longer par 71 than shown on the score card at 6,589 yards. Narrow fairway shoots with red stakes speckled throughout but mound framed greens to ease the pain in pursuit of pars. There was about an inch of rain the night before I played but the green and fairway speeds still relatively high. Aesthetically magnificent golf course with exposed giant rocks and flowers throughout the course but showcased specifically at #s 4, 6, 9, 10-12, 15-18."

“Easy holes are balanced by some tough, tight and longer par 4's. The playing corridors are moderate to tight with the encroaching woods a mostly rocky and severe penalty. Greens are contoured moderately with some interestingly difficult. The par 4 12th is a particularly difficult driving hole with a narrow landing area large rock outcrop guarding the inside of the dog leg. "
