This challenging layout less than 15 miles north of Memphis was once owned by Justin Timberlake. A relatively flat course, Mirimichi can play over 7,400 yards from the tips and not only defends itself with its length, but uses meandering streams, deep-faced bunkers and numerous lakes to challenge the better player. Though the course might be unrelenting for some, the natural setting among tall native grasses guarantees a peaceful, enjoyable walk.

“Mirimichi Golf Course provides a tremendously fun and surprising golf experience. If you like the challenge of navigating water, this is the place for you: you’ll find streams, ponds, and marshes long, short, left and right on various tee and approach shots. The front nine has a back-and-forth “muny” feel, but don’t jump to conclusions. One could make the case that all nine holes on the back are memorable. Given the essentially flat property, the designer(s) made excellent use of bunker placement and fairway levels to add interest. The course is hard from the tips—mostly because of some long approach shots that need to avoid penalty areas—but from the right tee box, there are birdie opportunities. What’s your least favorite golf shot? The 30-50 yard bunker shot? Mirimichi has that in spades. Plus, many of the greens are guarded by rolls and ledges cut to fairway height, which allows you to putt, chip, pitch, or lob your recovery shots. The course plays much shorter than the yardage because of excellent roll on the fairways. There is also a strange, almost refreshing, lack of traditional dogleg holes, so you can generally play your favorite draw or fade to your heart’s content, so long as you avoid the water. The course is home to abundant wildlife and has an Audubon Society seal of approval (so bring your bug spray)."Read More
