“So many holes are routed right to left around a high point on the course."

“Great Rock has a solid design with elevation all over the place. There are numerous holes that can challenge the long hitter to cut a corner an play a short wedge into the green. 18 is an amazing finishing hole with a bevy of bunkers and trees to carry if you want to try for a final eagle on a reachable par 5. However if you push it a little right you're in the drink. From start to finish it's a challenging but playable golf course. It's very unfortunate, but they always seem to have condition issues. If you catch it right you are in for a a great round followed by a solid meal at the restaurant after. But those good days are far and few between. If they sort out the conditioning issues this is one of the best public courses on eastern long island."
