About an hour north of Las Vegas, this Jack Nicklaus design was a member of Golf Digest’s 100 Greatest Public Courses ranking in 2011. Wide, generous fairways offer a variety of shot options, but undulating, sloping greens require precise approach play. Uneven lies in the fairway—plus an often-present wind in the valley—will also test your irons. The course debuted as No. 2 on Golf Digest’s Best New Public list in 2008, trailing only future U.S. Open host Chambers Bay.

“Very difficult course from any set of tees. The greens are also severe. Several holes presented challenges that only a very good player would enjoy. It's a long drive from any city and not much fun."

“Lovely setting and well run operation, but the course itself is somewhat of a mish-mash of holes, many of which regular golfer will find extremely difficult. Not sure it is worth the drive."

“This club was meant to be a high end private course. Their loss is the public golfers gain. Jack Nicklaus did a remarkable job routing the course through some relatively flat land. Do not expect a big clubhouse. There is a double wide trailer that houses the pro shop and a small snack bar."
