100 GREATEST/BEST IN STATE SCORES

“Designed by Charles Banks, Hendricks Fields is a municipal course just outside Newark that was recently renovated by Stephen Kay. The course is certainly a great opportunity for the general public to experience template holes at an affordable price. It is neither the toughest nor longest course in the world at just over 6,100 yards with a relatively forgiving layout. The most memorable hole is the par 3 12th nicknamed "Wee Biarritz" with an excellent green at just 154 yards. "

“Hendricks Field is a Charles Banks municipal course recently renovated by Stephen Kay in 2021. With decent conditions and value, this is a solid municipal course that offers the general public a good chance to play template holes such as the par 3 12th, a Biarritz, and several Redan green complexes. The back 9 is the better side of the two but the routing is an overall nice walk and features solid bunkering. I think there are better Banks public options nearby in Francis Byrne and Rock Spring, but Hendricks Field is still a good public course and worth a play to architecture fans."
