100 GREATEST/BEST IN STATE SCORES

“Only serious drawback to this course is its location, which is a long ways from nowhere. It is worth the effort to get here, however, with holes winding through Northern Michigan woodlands and wetlands to great advantage. Strategic holes and many stunning views."

“Great Rees Jones layout with wood lined fairways, undulating greens, and lots of bunkers. Very well manicured course that requires your "A" game from tee to green. If you can break 80 from the tips - quit your day job! You'll probably have trouble shooting your handicap here unless you play shorter yardage than you're used to. Just depends on if you want a challenge, or want to have fun. If you're single digit handicap, white will be fun (6,391), blues will be tough (6,736). Pace of play is very dependent on the level of golfers - high handicappers will need extra time to look for errant balls, rake traps, and three putting - consequently expect to see the ranger several times during your round if you don't keep up. With the tree lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, you definitely need to pay attention on the tee box and with most greens well protected on three sides your approach shots need to be precise. One of my favorite Michigan courses - would definitely play here again. Staff was great!"
