Why We Like It

  • To simplify the wedge-selection process, Proto-Concept developed three sole grinds that differ in effective bounce and are based on playing style.
  • The NT grind is on lower lofts and is primarily for full swings. The SP grind is on lofts 56 and up and is designed for those with sweeping swings. The AG grind is another option for 56 degrees and up and is made for those who hit down on the ball.
  • Through precise cold forging, groove width and depth have been optimized for maximum spin. The face features two types of laser milling—diagonal and horizontal—significantly improving spin in wet conditions.
  • The head is forged, but the addition of a heat treatment achieves the pure feel and helps rid unwanted vibrations.
  • SPECS: 13 options (46-60 degrees), 3 sole grinds, 1 finish

COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List testers noted stellar bunker performance — soles glide through sand for effortless, high-soft launches with heavy spin and check-and-stop control. Excellent greenside touch and versatile grinds enable everything from low runners to high floaters. Balanced, stable feel and clean turf interaction on finesse shots. One caveat: full swings can demand precise strikes, with some finding the head weighting leads to digging if not centered.

COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List testers noted a very balanced, stable-feeling club with phenomenal sole interaction that “glides” through sand and excels in bunkers and around the greens. Testers praised its soft metal and light head for exceptional touch, easy face manipulation and strong short-game forgiveness and shot variety; it’s also a solid performer on full shots—especially for skilled ball-strikers off firm turf. One downside: it can dig on full swings and demands precise center strikes.

COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List panelists observed a wedge that shines in bunkers and around the greens: consistently high-launching, soft-landing shots with strong spin and excellent check-and-stop control. Versatile grind options and balanced weight help it glide through sand and turf, enabling a wide range of shots from low runners to high floaters. Full swings deliver clear feel, high flight and reliable carry. One caveat: it can feel heel-heavy and fussy on bigger swings, demanding precise strikes.

COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List panelists observed a simple, classic look with design cues pushing CG low and a beautifully soft full‑swing feel with excellent ball‑face interaction. Sand play is effortless—sole glides, lifts consistently—and bunker performance earned repeated praise for soft landings and confidence-building reliability. Turf interaction maximizes spin and provides crisp feedback; a blade-like personality allows aggressive chip swings. One drawback: greenside spin was occasionally underwhelming.
