Why We Like It
- New weighting keeps the shaft in line with the head’s center of gravity so that the face angle naturally remains square to the stroke path.
- The shaft angle’s built-in forward press encourages consistent contact with the center of the face.
- Designers used AI and machine learning to develop the back of the insert’s asymmetrical variable-thickness pattern to improve off-center speed and roll.
- Designers explored more than 2,000 design versions of the insert to get the best off-center-hit consistency.
- The urethane coating over the soft-aluminum face insert matches that of the company’s highly favored White Hot material for soft feel.
- Counterbalanced “Stroke Lab” shaft improves consistency in impact location.
- Top 5 in Performance, middle-handicaps
- Models: Double Wide. Head weights: 360 grams. Lengths: 33-35. Loft: 3 degrees.

This is a game-improvement putter. It forces your hands into one position and.makes the roll very predictable. Love the ingenuity behind it but if you're someone who prefers more rotation in your stroke, you're not going to putt well with it.

The alignment of the center shaft and the white hot insert make for a very nice rolling putt. Perfectly balanced putter.

Simple design with a nice topline alignment aid that promotes a square face to the ball. One of the hotter faces in the group—you have to hit it softer to get the proper distance. Soft, muted strike on the ball. Rolls true.

I really like the metallic blue color. The white, aluminum face insert was a bit off-putting when I could see it, but it was forgiving. I'm not sure I ever hit the sweet spot, but it still performed well.

The way the shaft goes in, you need a lot of forward shaft lean to get the face square, otherwise it will feel like it has 10 degrees of loft on it. Performed very well on shorter putts.

The contrast in color in the impact zone, combined with the center alignment line, made every putt seem like a free putting lesson. The forward shaft isn't for everyone's eye, but the alignment ease is undeniable.

I didn't want to like it after looking at it, but the face just didn't twist. The results were good and the ball always started on line. It was windy, and the face stayed very stable, so it could be a nice option for someone who frequently plays in windy conditions.

It's different. I don't like the center shaft, but I do like the size of the head. The sweet spot is massive—or, at least, that's the illusion it gives. I felt like the face was too far forward, but the ball rolled nice and soft with good speed control.

Jamie

It was virtually impossible to not have a square face at impact. The built-in forward press in the shaft and the grooved insert offer a feathery light touch.

The way the shaft is behind the face but leaning forward makes it feel like a training aid. Forces you to keep your hands forward which, I guess, is the point. Once outside of 10 feet, it becomes very distracting.

I wish the white insert was the same color as the rest of the face. Other than that, it was fantastic. The ball went exactly where I wanted it to on long-distance putts. No extra torque or anything. Would love to see this as a cruiser with the bigger handle.

I just can’t get over where the shaft sits. It has me twisting the toe because I feel like I have to close it to get it square. On a positive note, when you do commit, the ball comes off the face really well. You just have to practice with it.

Unconventional look with center shaft, which takes some getting used to. The proximity of the shaft to the face gives you the impression that you're actually putting with the shaft. Extremely stable putter with exceptional directional control. The ball went exactly where I wanted.

A lot going on visually. The large, center-shafted head and angled shaft can be a little overwhelming at first, but once you dial that in, the insert feels fantastic. Nice, cushy feel off the face. You can line up anything under 10 feet and it's hard to miss.

Surviving The Hot List: Celebrity Intern
From the Manufacturer
Odyssey Ai-One Square 2 Square
Ai-One Square 2 Square putters feature a modern center shafted design that makes them Stroke Balanced, so they want to stay square throughout a golfer’s stroke. This design centers the shaft on the cg plane of the putter. This results in putters that rest with the toe up in a reverse torque position, opposite of a traditional putter with toe hang. This design promotes a square face throughout the stroke. Forward shaft lean presets the hands in a forward press position eliminating the opening of the face that often happens when golfer forward press on their own.

The unique reverse plumber’s-neck hosel helps to shift the putter’s balance point between shaft and head to make it easier to square the face at impact.
The benefit of the hosel is that unlike other designs that reduce or eliminate torsional resistance, this version does not force the hands forward with an angled shaft.
Because the shaft is aligned with the head’s center of mass, the putter face stays square to the path of the stroke to eliminate unreliable hand action.
